Jian Kang
Jian practises exclusively in family law, as he has been throughout his legal career following his graduation from UBC Law in 2015.
Prior to joining us, Jian practised at one of the most renowned family law firms in British Columbia, where he was well-regarded by his colleagues and his clients for his integrity and ability to obtain favourable outcomes in and out of the court. He has been repeatedly featured in television, radio shows and articles in B.C. to share his insights into family law, all of which were well-received.
With a strong background in mathematics (BSc (Hons) and Master degree from University of Victoria), Jian is particularly well equipped to navigate through complex fact patterns and formulate effective strategies with precise logic. On the other hand, his passion and training in fine arts allows him to approach clients with grounded empathy and truly understand their wants and needs.
Despite his calm demeanour and clean sense of humour, Jian is known among his peers as a “court warrior.” He has extensive court experience, having participated in multiple record-setting cases in B.C. and independently conducted several trials and appeals, including a lengthy trial that lasted for almost 30 days.
When he is not busy helping clients with their cases, Jian can be found doing various art projects or on the tennis court – he has just begun to learn that sport and is having a terrific time picking up the balls.
Jian is fluent in both Mandarin and English. Born and raised in Mainland China, he is also well attuned to the Chinese culture and social norms which, in turn, allows him to bridge the cultural gap to achieve the best results for his clients.
