Harold Niman

Counsel

Harold is actively practicing, and he remains a preeminent leader of the family law bar. Though his official title at Niman Mamo LLP is "Counsel", he is the lead lawyer on files in which he is involved. For those cases where Harold is not involved, the firm and the firm's clients retain the added benefit of seeking his advice and wisdom.

Named Toronto's best divorce lawyer by Toronto Life Magazine in 2009, Harold is one of the most frequently recommended lawyers in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory. He is involved in claims related to all aspects of separation and divorce, including complex financial matters, custody litigation, and mobility cases. Harold has extensive trial experience and has appeared at all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada. He has also been appointed a dispute resolution officer by the Family Law Division of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

Harold is a former instructor and lecturer for the Ontario Bar admission course and has contributed to the Intensive Family Law and Trial Practice programs at Osgoode Hall Law School. He has published educational materials for both the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Canadian Bar Association and co-chaired the Six-Minute Family Law Lawyer and the Ten-Minute Family Law Judge.

Harold has written articles for several legal periodicals, served as an associate editor of the Reports of Family Law, and is the editor and co-author of a textbook, Evidence in Family Law. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a recipient of the Continuing Legal Education Long-Term Achievement Award from the Law Society of Upper Canada.
